Following the recent scrub clearance carried out at Grand Shaft Barracks site it has become apparent that this effort is part of a larger project.

It is infact part of a 5 year plan to overhaul the way the site looks and is interpreted.   Apparently a survey is being carried out on the barrack foundations following which the area will be landscaped with chalk banks, then seeded and grazed by Dexter cattle.

The vehicular access to the site will at last be blocked by hopefully, a speed ramp, a new height barrier, bollards and a locked gate.

Hopefully this will deter further abuse of the site.  More information will be published here as it becomes available.
